Getting started!
It's official I have joined the Biggest Loser Challenge posted in the "BAT" (Buzz around town) publication. I am both very excited and very nervous at the same time. I like the idea that this challenge is monitored by the Renaissance Health and Surgical Associates. Dr. Azar has been my doctor for 20+ years and is fully aware of the health struggles I have faced over the last five years. Also, what caught my attention is that not only will I be working hard to beat out my four competitors but I get to chose a charity to sponsor. The proceeds of the entry fee goes towards the winner's charity of choice. Sold! Count me in!
Now I have to set my mind to match my desires. Positive thinking, positive thinking! I can do this! I went for my first weigh-in on August 7th. Rude awakening, did I say RUDE?! Yes, that scale is rude! I can do this! Positive thinking! I have never been afraid of a challenge before, somewhere deep inside I have that "Rocky Balboa" drive just waiting to come out. This doesn't only need to be a challenge for a period of time but I need a healthy lifestyle. I need to set the example for my children. I want to be healthy to go on mission trips with my husband. I need to get my diabetes under control and maybe if I get healthy enough my body will stop producing tumors on my organs. So, ya see there are many reasons to win this challenge.
I have chosen the local area food bank as my charity. I feel like God has laid this non-profit organization on my heart for a reason. I recently found out that they are in dire need of financial contributions or else they may end up having to close the doors. I began doing research and realized how many people in our local community are suffering from hunger. It broke my heart. I have volunteered at the food bank before and knew there was a need, but I was shocked to realize the full reality of the situation. This has encouraged me to start the Stop Hunger Campaign. Please continue to check out my blog and "What's New" pages to get involved. This campaign is going to need more than the $500 prize winnings from the biggest loser challenge. This is a community crisis needing immediate attention and action.
I pray that you will join me on this venture!
