Health magazine had a great article about the importance of eating breakfast that I wanted to share. Every morning is busy for me. The only day I am not running out the door is on Saturday. I never eat breakfast or snacks throughout the day so this article was very interesting to me. I have heard before that it is important to eat breakfast but I didn’t realize that we could lose twice the amount of weight just by changing where we are eating the calories in our day. Hope you enjoy!
Have More Breakfast
You can peel off more than twice as many pounds by eating a bigger breakfast, finds new research from Tel Aviv University. Half the dieters in the study are 700 calories at breakfast and 200 calories at dinner, while the rest did the opposite. (All lunches were 500 calories.) The big-breakfast eaters shed nearly 18 pounds over 12 weeks; the others lost 7. “Your metabolism is naturally more efficient at burning calories in the morning,” explains study co-author Oren Froy, PhD. “but the big breakfast also seemed to prevent an insulin surge at lunch, suggesting the women were burning fuel more efficiently all day.” One hefty morning meal: a veggie and cheese omelet, 5 ounces of low-fat Greek yogurt, two slices of toast, and an apple and a nonfat latte.
